The Master of Science (MS) in Medical Product Development Management (MPDM) is a comprehensive, master’s degree program and can be completed in either 2 or 3 years. The emphasis of the program is on the management of products undergoing clinical research and clinical development, i.e. clinical trial stages I, II, III and IV or other testing as required by the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or international regulatory authorities.
The curriculum includes customized courses from the Colleges of Science and Business, and was designed in consultation with biomedical industry employers in the greater San Francisco Bay area. The MPDM program continues to have interaction with the industry and provides expert industry speakers in the classroom, in order to present the latest advancements to students.

Interested in advancing your career? Learn how to produce and purify biopharmaceutical products at the University of Maryland's Bioprocess Scale-Up Facility this June. Taught by world-class faculty and practitioners, this one-week training features two sessions, both of which include in-laboratory and classroom instruction:
The Fermentation and Microbiology Workshop covers various fermentation systems and the techniques, methodologies, principles and applications of aerobic bacterial and fungal fermentation, including recent advances and up-to-date applications.
The Downstream Processing & Protein Purification Workshop covers recovery and purification strategies for biotechnology products, especially proteins. Participants learn cell separation, cell disruption, chromatography theory and systems, sample preparation, columns and packing, adsorptive chromatography, and elution optimization.
